Brief  Introduction: Lanzhou, called "Lan" or"Gao" in short, formerly known as Jincheng(Gold city), is the capital of Gansu Province, an important industrial base and comprehensive transportation hub in northwest China approved by the State Council and an important hub city on the Silk Road Economic Belt as well. Lanzhou is the only capital city which the yellow river runs through.

Lanzhou used to be an important town on the ancient Silk Road. As early as 5,000 years ago, human beings lived and thrived here. In the Western Han Dynasty (205B.C.-24AD) Lanzhou was set up as a county government, taking the name of Jin Cheng(gold city). At the beginning of the Sui Dynasty(581-618AD), its name was changed to Lanzhou. From Han Dynasty to Tang and Song Dynasties, with the opening and development of the Silk Road, Lanzhou gradually became into an important traffic artery and commercial port of the ancient Silk Road, an important city and bond connecting the minorities in the Western regions and an important intersection of the Yellow River culture, the Silk Road culture, the central Plains culture and the Western regions culture.

Lanzhou is located in the northwest of China and the central part of Gansu Province. It is the geometric center of continental map of China, the integrated traffic pivot of Railway, highway and aviation in northwest of China. It is also one of the five central cities in the Chinese section of the New Eurasian Land Bridge. Lanzhou is an important regional business center and modern logistics base in the west, enjoying the reputations of "Silk Road town", "Pearl of the YellowRiver", "Summer Palace in the West", "Capital of waterwheel", "famous city of melons and fruits" and so on.

Climate: Lanzhou has a temperate continental climate with large temperature difference and little precipitation. It is not severely cold in winter and not extremely hot in summer.
