Brief Introduction: Xi 'an, formerly known as Changan, Haojing in ancient time and now the provincial capital of Shaanxi Province, is an important central city in western China approved by the State Council, as well as an important national scientific research, education and industrial base. Xi 'an lies in the middle of the Guanzhong Plain, near the Wei River in the north and the Qinling Mountains in the south. The city has jurisdiction over 11 districts and 2 counties,with a total area of 10,752 square kilometers and a permanent resident population of 10,203,500. As a civilization place for more than 5,000 years, as a city for more than 3,100 years and as a capital for more than 1,100 years, Xi'an is one of the four ancient capitals of ancient China, one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization and nation, and the starting point of the Silk Road. In Xi’an the Tomb of Emperor Qin Shihuang, the Terra-cotta Warriors, the Wild goose Pagoda, the Small Goose Pagoda, the Daming Palace Ruins, the Weiyang Palace Site, the Han Changan City, and Xingjiao Temple Pagoda have been listed into the world heritage by UNESCO.

Climate & Weather: It belongs to the warm temperate semi-humid continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. However, the climate in spring is changeable, with hot and rainy summer, cool and rainyautumn, and dry and cold winter without much rain and snow.The average annual temperature is 13 degrees Celsius

Transportation:Many areas in Xi’an that are easily accessible on foot. In many commercial, residential, educations zones in the city, especially in the shopping and entertainment districts around the Bell Tower, underpasses and overpasses have been built for the safety and convenience of pedestrians. Electric bikes are very popular among students and offer easy transportation in and around the city for many residents. Local food: Shaanxi Cuisine, also known as Qin Cuisine, is the representative culinary achievement in the northweast of China. Firstly, due to Shaanxi's geographical location in the center of China, various kinds of materials originating from both north and south China are adopted. Secondly there are special cooking skills of the local chefs, including Qiang (fry quickly inhot oil, then cook with sauce and water), Chao (stir-fry), Zheng (cook by use of steam), Dun (braise) and so on.
