Brief Introduction: Chaka salt lake is a natural crystallized salt lake over 3000 years, located in chaka town, wulan county, haixi Mongol and Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Qinghai province. It is one of the four major salt lakes in the Qaidam basin."Chaka" is a Tibetan word meaning salt pool, which is also the salt of blue sea.

The feature of climate  around chaka salt lake is warm , cool, arid with little rain. It belongs to the plateau continental climate ,with an annual average temperature of 4 degree and an annual average rainfall of 210.4 mm. The salt lake looks like an oval in shape and covers an area of 105 square kilometers. It is 3,100 meters above sea level, 15.8 kilometers long and 9.2 kilometers wide.

Chaka salt lake is as famous as Ta'er monastery and Qinghai lake . It is reputated as the mirror of sky by tourists,which is a particular site for photographing. It was rated as one of "55 places of must going in the lifetime" by national travel geography magazine.

Travel Tips: 1,The time of sunrise in Chaka Salt Lake is around 6:30 am from May to September, and the time of sunset is around 7:30 p.m. from May to September;

2, It is better to prepare wet tissue before visiting Chaka Salt Lake. If the skin is stained with salt or salt water, it should be cleaned with fresh water or wiped off with wet tissue, so as not to cause certain damage to the skin;

3, Here the sun light is very strong, as well as the reflection of the lake, so you need to prepare for sun protection. It is recommended to prepare sunglasses to protect your eyes;

4, It is about 3000 meters above sea level at the Chaka salt lake area . Please avoid strenuous exercise in order not to produce altitude reaction;

5, As the salt layer is rough, walking on barefoot will be painful. And the silt is deep in the lake, so it is not recommended to go too deep.
