It is renowned as one of greatest archaeological events of the world in the 20th century, listed as the world heritage by UNESCO, also well known as one of top ten ancient tombs in the world and the "eighth wonder of the world" . Dating back to its first dynasty, the ceramic figures have shed light on the country’s ancient artistic practices and age-old burial rituals.

The scenic area of Majishan grottoes is located 45 kilometers southeast of Tianshui City, the northern foot of the western section of the Qinling Mountains. Maiji Mountain Grottoes is an important scenic spot in Maiji Mountain Scenic and Historic Interest Area. It is a national 5A class tourist attraction. It is named because the shape of the mountain resembles the shape of a wheat stack. Maijishan Grottoes is one of the four grottoes in China, known as the Oriental Sculpture Hall.

Labrang Monastery is situated 1 km in the west of Xiahe County.Labrang monastery is an inflection of the Tibetan word "Ratzhang", which means the residence of the Living Buddha Master.Together with Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Gandan Monastery, Tashilhunpo Monastery in Tibet and Ta er monastery in Qinghai, they are collectively known as the six major monasteries of the Gelug Sect (yellow sect) of Lamaism in China. It is known as the "Tibetan institution of the world".
