Brief Introduction: Kashgar is the westernmost city of China. It is located in the southwest of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, at the northern foot of the Pamir Plateau and the western margin of the Tarim Basin. It is the key point of China's ancient Silk Road. Kashgar is inhabited by the Uygur people. They account for 74.8% of the total population,while the Han people account for 24.3% of the total population. In addition, there are Hui ,Manchurian, Uzbek, Tajik, Kazak, Kirgiz, Mongolian, Sipatar, Russian and other ethnic minorities. Kashgar is an ancient city with a long history of more than 2,100 years. Kashi is short for Kashgar, which means a jade - like place. As early as the 2nd century BC, when Zhang Qian went to the Western Regions in the Western Han Dynasty(205 BC-24 AD), Kashgar was named Shule City,which was already the capital of Shule prefecture, one of the 36 countries in the Western Regions. It was a major distribution and transfer station for commodities of various countries on the Silk Road. In the Tang Dynasty (618AD-907AD) Kashgar was set up as the first major military town in the Western Regions , which became one of the famous Four Towns of Anxi. From the end of the 9th century to the beginning of the 12th century, it was the eastern capital of the Kara Khan Dynasty. In the Yuan Dynasty (1227-1368AD) it belonged to Amu Province. At the beginning of the 16th century, the king , Saihan led the establishment of the famous Kashgar Khanatein Central Asia, and Kashgar became the imperial capital of the khanate. In 1884 of Qing dynasty, after the establishment of Xinjiang Province, here was set up as Shufu County. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, ShufuCounty was subordinate to the Kashgar Special Area of Xinjiang Province. In October of 1952, Kashgar City was established, and it was the seat of the people's government of Kashgar prefecture,which includes one city(kashgar city) and ten counties.The whole Kashi prefecture covers a total area of 162,000 square kilometers, which extends about 750 kilometers wide from east to west and 535 kilometers long from north to south. Kashgar is the administrative seat of Kashgar prefecture , the political, economic and cultural center of Kashgar prefecture,and the only famous Chinese historical and cultural city in Xinjiang . In 1982, Kashgar City was listed as one of Class B open cities. In 1988, it waslisted as one of the 62 national historical and cultural cities.

Kashgar has a warm temperate continental aridclimate. Four seasons are distinct, which features long summer and short winter.Because of the development of agriculture and animal husbandry advantaged conditions,here is rich in cotton, rice, wheat, corn, vegetables and other agricultural products. Fruits are also very rich, such as peaches, plums, apricots,pomegranates, figs, pears, apples, grapes and other hundreds of varieties with high yield and good quality. So Kashgar is well known as the land of fruits andmelons . The ancient city of Kashgar, a center of folk art, has been one of the main production bases of handicrafts in the Western Regions for centuries, andits traditional local ethnic industries are very distinctive. In the Han and Jin Dynasties, it developed into colored potteries. The Uyghur embroidered hat has an ancient and unique ethnic style. The embroidery work is fine as well,with various patterns, bright patterns and beautiful and elegant appearance. Aidis silk, namely tie-dyed silk, is made by the ancient Chinese dyeing process, which is best known for its bright color.

Climate:

Kashgar has a warm temperate continental arid climate.Four seasons are distinct, which features long summer and short winter.The temperature difference between day and night is very big in Kashgar.
