Brief Introduction: Tianchi scenic spot is located in the northeast of Urumuqi around 110 km, which is the only national natural scenics pot in Xinjiang. Tianchi scenic area was called “Yaochi” in ancient times, where the Queen Mother of the West Heaven lived in legendary story. So at the top of the mountain by the east bank of Tianchi (heavenly lake) there’s a temple which was originally built for Queen Mother of the West Heaven in Yuan dynasty (around12 century). The present temple was rebuilt in 1999,and it takes much more time to reach there to visit. It is a colorful and legendary place.The whole Tianchi scenic area is 548 square km, which is a typical mountain natural landscape in arid area of northwest of China. The Tianchi(heavenly lake) is nearby the Bogoda Peak (5445m) at the east of Tianshan mountain, which is a natural lake surrounded by high mountains. The area of the heavenly lake is around 5 square km, of which the sea level is 1910 m. TheTianchi(heavenly lake) is 3.5 from south to north and 0.8-1.5 km from east towest. Its average depth is 30m, and the deepest point is around 105m. In 2007 Tianchi scenic area was rated as a national 5A scenic spot by the national tourism administration. In 2013 this area was collected into the World Heritage List by UNESCO. It also got other reputations, such as national geopark, national key scenic spot,national civilized scenic spot, international human and natural biosphere reserve, the best place to visit in xinjiang, the best resource protection of China's top ten scenic spots

Travel Tips:1, It is not allowed to swim or skate in the heavenly lake;

2, In the heavenly lake scenic area normally the temperature is much lower, please prepare thick clothes when you visit it; The weather sometimes changes so quickly, maybe it will rain or snow. So umbrella is necessary to prepare.

3, During the whole year, the ultraviolet ray is quite strong, so you need prepare enough sun cream or sun-proof coat, especially in summer time.

4,You will take two different shuttle buses to get to the top of the mountain. On the way from the first shuttle bus stop to the second shuttle bus stop , you will go through a Kazak village ,where you have chance to buy some food and souvenirs.

5, As a popular scenic spot ,during the special festival, such as Labors’ day holliday, Summer holiday and National day’sholiday, there might be a lot of people. So you should have the mental preparation if you choose these seasons to come. Otherwise you try to avoid to come during theses holidays.
