Brief Introduction: The museum is in the south of dunhuang city. Originally it was found in 1979, and the new museum was built in 2011. The shape of museum looks like a castle .The construction land covers an area of 16,000 square meters. When you visit it, it seems to show you a spiral visiting route, starting from this side and ending at the other side. In the museum the history and relics about dunhuang in different dynasties are shown very detailedly. Different dynasties are shown in separate exhibition halls. The formal history of dunhuang started from west Han dynasty after dunhuang was set as one of four prefectures in the Hexi corridor. Then it went through Wei and Jin dynasty,Sui, Tang,Song,Yuan,Ming, Qing dynasties. From the museum you will get to know the prosperity and development of dunhuang in the history. You will get a lot of interesting stories in the museum.

Opening Time: 09:00—18:30 (by17:30 stop entering)( May 1—Sep.30), 

                         09:00—18:00 (by 17:00 stop entering) (Oct.1—Apr.30) ( It closes on Monday in the whole year)

2, Normally food,drinks,snacks are not allowed to take in, and backpacks are normally requested to be deposited before you visit;
