Zheng He (1371-1433) was a eunuch of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).His family name was originally Ma and his given name is He(means peace). His pet name was known as Sanbao (three Treasures). Afterwards he was called Sanbao eunuch in the history. He was born in Baoshan county, Kunyang City, Yunnan province. He was a famous Chinese navigator and diplomat in the Ming Dynasty.

Zheng He was born in 1371 , who was the second son in his family. In winter of 1381 as the troops of Ming dynasty attacked the remnant Mongols army of Yuan dynasty in Yunnan, Zheng He was captured by the army of Ming dynasty and was sent to Nanjing.Then he was sent to the mansion of Prince Yan to serve Zhudi after castration into a eunuch.He was only 11 years old as he was castrated. In 1403 the monk Yao Daoyan accepted Mahe as a Buddhism disciple. He got a Buddhism name Fu Jixiang which means happiness and good luck.

In 1404, the second of Emperor Yongle, Zheng He set the outstanding military achievements. So Emperor Zhudi granted him a new famlily name, Zheng ,instead of Ma to commemorate the meritorious military service. So in the history he was called "zheng he" eunuch. Afterwards he got continous promotion to the officer with high level. Zheng He was very wise  and he knew how to fight, so Emperor Zhudi trusted him very much. From 1405 to 1433, Zheng He made seven voyages to the Western Seas, accomplishing great feats in human history.He was sent on a diplomatic mission to 36 countries and cities at that times. Zheng He died in Guri, on the west coast of India during his seventh voyage to the West Seas, and was buried at Niushou Mountain in Nanjing.

Zheng he's voyages to the Western Seas were an act of state, and his fleet was a powerful strategic force. The mission and achievements of Zheng He's voyages to the Western Seas can be summarized in four aspects:

1,Pursuing peaceful diplomacy and stabilizing the international order in Southeast  Asia

2,Detering Japanese pirates, containing the remnant forces of The Mongols of Yuan dynasties, and maintaining national security;

3, Developing overseas trade and spreading the Chinese civilization;

4, Exploiting the causes of ocean and smoothing the sea routes for Asia and Africa.
